A 75-year-old Asian woman who fought her alleged 39-year-old attacker in San Francisco last week after police said he beat her up while she was waiting to cross the street will donate the nearly $ 1 million raised to her medical bills to combat anti-Asian crime.

She told KPIX-TV in San Francisco that the suspect had punched him in the eye without provocation. She said she picked up a wooden board on the sidewalk and defended herself with it.
The video of the aftermath showed the suspect, identified as Stephen Jenkins, handcuffed to a stretcher with a bloody face. Police said he was taken to the hospital for an “earlier medical condition”.
Jenkins was arrested and is suspected of another attack on an 83-year-old Asian on the same day. He was charged with two counts of assault, according to People magazine.
Police are still investigating whether the race was taken into account in the alleged attacks, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Chen added that her grandmother’s swelling has subsided and she is feeling more “upbeat” and “in a better mood” after feeling anxiety and fear after the attack.
