In a blog post on her website, Frenshe, Ashley wrote: ‘I did rhinoplasty 15 years ago. At the time, it didn’t seem SO big to me because the decision was based on serious health problems that I was having.

“To be clear, it wasn’t about changing my appearance. After several visits to the doctor about my health problems, they also suggested shaving my belly. I was young and didn’t think about it much, so I decided, why not?

“It wasn’t a big deal for me, nor was it like I dreamed of the day I would have a nose job. On the other hand, I have a ZERO judgment for anyone who is looking forward to that day – your body, your choice. ‘(sic)

Ashley defiantly said that she always “loved” herself and her appearance, but was made to feel bad for others.

She added: ‘[People] I was constantly trying to paint a picture of me as someone who didn’t like his appearance. I loved myself, but I was just a very unconscious person at that time (as you all saw my LOL wardrobe choices!). I was proud of who I was then, and I am still proud now.

“Plastic surgery was not culturally accepted as it is now. When I finished, I was examined, judged and made to feel ashamed of my decision.

‘I made a decision that was nobody’s business (and it’s STILL nobody’s business) and because of that decision, I always felt bad about it. (sic)

As she hopes to receive her first child later this year with her husband Christopher French, she expressed hope that her daughter will not be received with the same ‘judgment or shame’ that she experienced.

She continued: ‘At the end of the day, I will have a daughter and I hope that your choices are not met with judgment or shame. It took me years to process this experience – an experience that I also didn’t think was a big deal.

“I have been very open and honest about my mental health, my breast explant and everything. It is not easy to be vulnerable and I felt that this was taken advantage of during the interview.

‘I am happy to have this platform where I can share my experiences and I hope you can learn something from them – including the negative aspects of plastic surgery.’
