“Without my Congolese brothers and sisters, my internal bleeding would probably have killed me and I would have lost my leg,” wrote the “Double Jeopardy” star on Instagram. “I wake up crying with gratitude, deeply moved by each person who contributed something to give life and save the spirit during my exhausting 55-hour odyssey.”
Judd’s photo gallery highlighted the heroes of a bonobo research expedition that turned into a serious emergency when she tripped over a tree in the dark. They comforted her while she remained helpless on the forest floor for hours. They reconfigured her broken tibia twice to make the arduous journey, carrying her on foot across brutal terrain in a hammock and then on a motorcycle, supporting her back while keeping her mutilated member stable.
Judd, whose films include “Divergent”, “Tooth Fairy” and “Someone like you,” told The New York Times’ Nicholas Kristof in the video at the top that she ended up being transported to the capital Kinshasa, where a plane was placed. to South Africa. She underwent surgery at a hospital there.
