Netflix took a first look behind the scenes at Zack Snyder’s upcoming zombie movie, Army of the Dead. The four images, compiled in the gallery below, mainly show Snyder directing his cast of zombie fighters. This includes stars Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana De La Reguera and more.

Initial analysis of the Army of the Dead

Army of the Dead is a zombie movie set in post-apocalyptic Las Vegas. A group of mercenaries must venture into the quarantine zone to carry out “the greatest assault ever attempted”. Based on the synopsis, one can imagine that it will be like Ocean’s 11, but with zombies and weapons.

Army of the Dead is Snyder’s first film as a director since he worked in the Justice League in 2017, although he did not finish the film, transferring the direction to Joss Whedon.

Snyder is also working on the Snyder Cut of Justice League, now officially titled Zack Snyder’s Justice League, for HBO Max. DC after finishing his edition of the Justice League.

This is not Snyder’s first zombie movie, as he gained prominence with his 2004 reboot, Dawn of the Dead.

Army of the Dead will debut on Netflix in 2021. An earlier film titled Army of the Dead: The Prequel is currently in post-production, as well as an anime spinoff titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas.
