Armie Hammer is apologizing after making headlines once again amid his social media scandal.
The 34-year-old actor issued a statement after a post was leaked in which he allegedly used a private Instagram account to share the video of a woman, whom he referred to as “Miss Cayman”. “Miss Cayman” is similar to the title awarded to the Miss Cayman Islands Universe contest winner.
“I would like to clarify that the person in my video, who was stolen from my private Instagram, is not Miss Cayman,” he told the Cayman Compass. “I sincerely regret any confusion that my silly attempt at humor may have caused.”
The woman’s face, which was reportedly “half-naked”, was not visible in the video, according to Compass.

“My deepest condolences to Miss Cayman, whom I do not know, and to the entire organization, as I had no intention of suggesting that she was actually Miss Cayman,” added Hammer.

The video was also reported by the Miss Cayman Islands Universe Committee.
“The Miss Cayman Islands Universe Committee is aware of a video allegedly posted by Armie Hammer, referring to a half-naked young woman as ‘Miss Cayman’,” the organization said in a statement on social media. “The Committee is very disturbed by the video and would like to confirm that the woman is not the current Miss Cayman Islands and has no affiliation with the Miss Cayman Islands Universe contest.”
The committee said it addressed the scandal “with the utmost seriousness” and even reported the incident to the Cayman Islands Royal Police Service.

“Ms. Cayman’s role is, in part, to serve as a role model for young women in the Cayman Islands,” continues the statement. “The representation of women in the video goes against everything that our organization stands for and the Committee is therefore asking Mr. Hammer to immediately remove all references to Ms. Cayman from her social media channels.”
Spokesmen for Hammer and the Cayman Islands Royal Police Service did not immediately respond to Fox News’s requests for comment.

Hammer has been at the center of the controversy after messages allegedly written by him were leaked. The messages, which were not verified, contained explicit sexual fantasies and references to cannibalism.
After the disaster, it was announced that Hammer had left his next film, and he released a statement about the leak to Variety.

“I am not responding to these bulls-t claims, but in light of the wicked and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot, in good conscience, leave my children for 4 months to make a film in the Dominican Republic,” he said. “Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I am grateful to them for that.”

The film crew agreed to his decision to leave.
“Armie asked to move away from the film and we supported him in his decision,” a production spokesman said in a statement to Fox News at the time.
