Armed Carpinteria thieves arrested in Goleta

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office Update

Three suspects in an assault in Carpinteria were arrested hours later in Goleta, when a citizen spotted them and called 9-1-1. At 5:41 am this morning, deputies in Carpinteria responded to the 9-1-1 call from an altercation at Chevron on Via Real and Santa Monica. Delegates learned that an adult female victim was abducted and forcibly stolen by three suspects who fled in a vehicle before the delegates arrived. One of the suspects was reported as possibly carrying a firearm. The officers checked the suspects in the area and issued an alert (BOL) to the associated vehicle, a golden sedan with a flat tire. The victim did not need medical attention and remained at the scene.

Hours later, at approximately 8:44 am, a witness in Goleta called 9-1-1 to report the sighting of suspects and a vehicle that matched the description of BOL that had been shared by the local media. When the police arrived, they located the vehicle, a beige Nissan, with three occupants parked in front of a tire store on block 200 of S. Fairview Avenue. Police briefly diverted traffic around the scene while contacting suspects who were arrested without further incident. One of the suspects was found with a firearm hidden in his person at the time of arrest.

The suspects are all from Tucson, Arizona, and are identified as Barry Mullins, 22, Seanray Allen, 22, and James Johnson, 18. All three suspects were arrested at Main Prison for crimes, including theft, conspiracy and kidnapping. Mullins was charged on other counts of misdemeanor, including possession of a loaded gun in public and possession of a concealed weapon. All three suspects are on $ 1,000,000 bond.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all members of the community who were watching these suspects. We would also like to highlight the common sense of the witness who kept a safe distance, immediately called 9-1-1 and provided useful information for the response units. This case is a great example of teamwork with the media sharing important and timely information with the public, community members being alert and reporting information immediately to law enforcement authorities, which allowed deputies to respond quickly and take these suspects into custody with safety.

Police activity on S. Fairview Ave?

Does anyone know what happened at block 400 of South Fairview at around 9am this morning? It looks like it was in front of the Orient Hand Laundry or so. Fairview blocked and lots of lights.
