Here is a little secret, it is quite common that anything advertised at CES has at least one twin. You’ve probably seen Alarm.com’s new non-ringing video bell, but it’s not the only company to keep dirty hands away from your home. Arlo is also entering the game with his own model without touch.

Arlo Touchless Video Doorbell combines elements that are already common to most intelligent security cameras today. Proximity sensors are used to detect a person approaching the door and trigger a beep and light the bell to signal that the home owner has been informed that someone is at the door.

Owners will have all the features they would expect from Arlo’s current line of video buzzers, such as 180-degree viewing angle HD video, two-way speaker, pre-recorded messages and video recording. The model announced at CES 2021 is connected for power, but uses wifi for communication. Nothing was said about a battery-powered model.

Arlo was named honored with the CES 2021 Innovation Award for this and his new internal camera. Arlo hasn’t shared prices or other details yet, and the only photo looks exactly (and may be) Arlo’s current video bell. There is also no video demo, which probably means that this is more of a concept ad than a finished product. But even if it means that the touchless model was conceived only recently, it is so similar to Arlo’s existing bells and cameras that it shouldn’t be long before it is built and put on the market.

Unlike the model announced by Alarm.com, the Arlo model does not mention anything about the need for installation by a professional.
