Arkansas intends to continue SEC sequence against South Carolina – ESPN 98.1 FM

The Arkansas Razorbacks (19-5, 11-4 SEC) will travel to Columbia to face the South Carolina Gamecocks (6-12, 4-10 SEC) for each team’s penultimate regular season game this season. The game will start at 6:30 pm on the SEC Network.

In the clash, Arkansas will seek its seventh consecutive victory and the tenth consecutive in the conference. The game will also be the last trip of the year for the Razorbacks, as they finish the season at home against Texas A&M this Saturday, March 6th.

With a victory tonight or Saturday, Arkansas would take second place and bid farewell to the SEC tournament.

The two teams’ most recent competition took place a year ago, when South Carolina beat Arkansas 79-77 last season. Arkansas leads the all-time series against South Carolina by 20-15, but is only 6-8 when playing on the road in Columbia.

Arkansas’ Hot February

The Razorbacks were one of the hottest teams in February, ending the month with a perfect 6-0 record. Arkansas’ excellent game was recognized when the team won 12th place in the national ranking of the Associated Press, the program’s highest ranking since 1998.

The ranking comes after two impressive victories over No. 8 ranking Alabama and LSU last week. Quad-1’s two wins helped Arkansas move up eight places in the ranking and win NCAA Division 1 “Team of the Week” honors.

Razorbacks freshman Moses Moody received the SEC’s freshman honors with two notable performances last week. Moody had 24 points, hitting 40 percent in the three-point streak against Alabama and 18 points against LSU.

With the unexpected Arkansas race, the team’s projected seed for the NCAA Tournament is on the rise. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has Razorbacks listed as four seeds for March.

Season fights in South Carolina

The Gamecocks won the much-needed 21-point victory over Georgia on Saturday, February 27. The victory comes after six consecutive defeats after the 72-66 victory over Florida on February 3. his best performances of the year with 23 points, the best of the season.

South Carolina is currently two positions above Vanderbilt, at the bottom of the SEC rating. Carolina’s performance this season leaves the SEC tournament as the team’s only way to reach the NCAA Tournament later this month.

The last game of the Gamecocks regular season has the team traveling to face Kentucky this Saturday, March 6th.
