Up to five victims – believed to be relatives – were found dead around 5 pm Friday in Atkins, Arkansas, officials announced.
“The tragedy struck Pope County this Christmas day,” a spokesman for the sheriff’s office told reporters at a news conference. “Shortly after 5:00 pm, our officers were sent to a residence on Block 5100 on Pine Ridge Road, here in Polk County, because of a possible homicide.
“Upon arrival, we noticed that there were potentially five victims in this residence. We believe that they are all members of the family at this time.”
No other information was immediately available. An investigation was underway, said the sheriff’s office.

Atkins, a city of about 3,000, is 66 miles northwest of Little Rock.
