FAYETTEVILLE – Ace’s recruiting and wide receivers coach, Justin Stepp, is leaving the University of Arkansas football team and returning to his hometown roots.

Stepp took a position in South Carolina on the new team of new coach Shane Beamer, confirmed the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette on Sunday.

Stepp, 37, was the only remnant of Coach Sam Pittman’s first team with the Razorbacks after arriving in Arkansas with Coach Chad Morris in 2018. Born in Columbia, SC, Stepp graduated from Pelion (SC) High and was an excellent recipient and punt returned to Furman University (2003-06), earning honors from the All-Southern Conference as a junior and senior.

His three seasons with Razorbacks have been filled with important signatories, especially in the wide receiver positions. Stepp was the primary recruiter at receiver Ketron Jackson and assisted with Scott Fountain in athlete Raheim Sanders, two of the top rated candidates from the Arkansas December signatories. He also recruited advisers Bryce Stephens and Jaedon Wilson.

Stepp also recruited recipient Darin Turner from the 2019-2020 autograph class and the Treylon Burks quartet, Trey Knox, TQ Jackson and Shamar Nash from the 2018-2019 class. He also helped defensive landings by Marcus Miller, Burks’ teammate at Warren High School.

Stepp and his wife, Brooke, welcomed their second son, daughter Allison Blair, on December 17, joining son Courtland.
