Arizona Extends Deadline for Individual Income Tax Return

PHOENIX – Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has extended the deadline for filing the individual state income tax in Arizona from Thursday, April 15, to Monday, May 17.

Ducey says he made the decision to match the federal government’s decision to extend the filing deadline.

Senate Bill 1297, introduced by Senator TJ Shope and Representative Shawnna Bolick, ensures that taxpayers who file state tax returns or submit payments before May 17 will not receive late payment or interest fines.

The bill also gives taxpayers more time to contribute to certain charitable organizations, including host organizations, public schools and school institutions, for the purpose of claiming their tax credits.

Officials say the extension applies only to individual income tax returns. Estimated payments continue to mature on April 15.
