Three reasons why you should attend the Offerpad Arizona Bowl
– The Allstate Sugar Bowl – a semifinal of the college football playoff between Ohio and Clemson – and that. These are the only two bowling games with a conference champion contest. Ball State is a veteran team with good balance and quite offensive. Buffalo won the MAC championship, but dealing with Mountain West champion San Jose State is an entirely different matter.
– It is the best season in the history of San Jose state football, with 7-0 all wins by double digits. The program won its last four bowl games, but it took time since 1987 to get them. Coach Brent Brennan has become a hot name on the coach carousel circuit, QB Nick Starkel has been fantastic after transferring from Arkansas – and before that from Texas A&M – and the defense has been consistently great.
– Ball State has never won a bowling game in seven attempts – this is the first attempt since 2013. The Cardinals have problems against good passing teams, but they dominate the spin battle with an ultra-aggressive style on both sides of the ball.
Overall, this young bowl was not bad. Two of the five games went into overtime, the opening effort was fun – a 28-23 win in Nevada over Colorado State – and, technically, this is the biggest showdown so far with the two conference champions.
