Mexican Summer label cut ties with Ariel Pink after the independent musician was criticized for attending the pro-Trump rally in Washington DC earlier this week.
“Due to recent events, Mexican Summer and his team decided to end our working relationship with Ariel Rosenberg aka Ariel Pink going forward,” tweeted Mexican Summer on Friday.

The label released Pink’s latest album, 2017 Dedicated to Bobby Jamesonas well as its 2019 build Odditties Sodomies Vol. 2. Mexican Summer is also scheduled to release a series of “Ariel Archives” LPs on January 29; to date, these reissues are still available for purchase on the Mexican Summer website. Mexican Summer and Pink representatives did not immediately respond to Rolling Stonerequest for comment from.
After the invasion of Capitol by the pro-Trump crowd on Wednesday, a deleted photo appeared on Pink’s social media, artist John Maus and filmmaker Alex Lee Moyer declaring that they attended the Trump rally.
“I was in DC to peacefully show my support for the president,” Pink later admitted on twitter. “I attended the rally on the White House lawn and went back to the hotel and took a nap. Case closed.”
Soon after, Pink’s name started to become a trend on Twitter, which resulted in more trollings by the singer. “Welcome to Panoptigan [sic]. they wasted no time … save yourselves, friends, cancel me now and give it to me before they come for you, “wrote Pink, adding:” Vote for the trump card “
