According to Pitchfork, after his participation in the pro-Trump rally “Save America” on Wednesday, which exploded in an attack on the Capitol, Ariel Pink was dismissed by his record label. “Due to recent events, Mexican Summer and his team decided to end our working relationship with Ariel Rosenberg, also known as Ariel Pink, going forward,” the record company tweeted Friday. Mexican Summer, which released Pink’s latest album of 2017 Dedicated to Bobby Jameson, was set to relaunch several of the singer’s remastered albums, including Odditties Sodomies Vol. 1, Sit n ‘Spin, Scared Famous / FF >>and Odditties Sodomies Vol. 3, on January 29th.
Pink was spotted on social media alongside independent musician John Maus at the January 6 demonstration in Washington DC, after which a crowd of supporters of the president invaded the Capitol while Congress was in session to ratify the electoral victory of presidential elected Joe Biden.
Pink, however, denied having participated in the confusion that left a Capitol police officer and four protesters dead. “I was in DC to peacefully show my support for the president,” the musician wrote in response to a user. “I attended the rally on the lawn of the white house and went back to the hotel and took a nap. case closed. “Tweet Pink on Wednesday, “Vote for trump card”.
