Ariel Pink and John Maus attended the Capitol on Wednesday when a crowd of Trump supporters forced their way into the facility in an apparent attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
The chaotic and violent event left four people dead and prompted Trump to be suspended from Twitter and Facebook after posting messages in which he repeated his belief that the election was “stolen” from him and said to his supporters: “I love you”.
Among these supporters were indie musicians Ariel Pink and John Maus. A photo of the duo was posted on the private account of director Alex Lee Moyer, who was also in DC with them. Other images of the group on Capitol Hill during the insurrection also appeared.

On Thursday morning, January 7, Pink tweeted to confirm that “I was in DC to peacefully show my support for the president.” Maus hasn’t commented yet. FADER sought representatives from both artists for more.
I was in DC to show my support for the president peacefully. I attended the rally on the lawn of the White House and went back to the hotel and took a nap. case closed

Ariel Pink released her latest album Dedicated to Bobby Jameson in 2017. It has long been controversial and previously seemed to show right-wing trends, tweeting “vote for the trump card” as recently as this morning.
Maus has not commented directly since his appearance in the riot was revealed. Thursday night, he shared an encyclical published by the Vatican in 1939 condemning the rise of German nationalism. In response to a fan tweet asking “if Ariel Pink locked you in a hotel room in DC”, Maus posted a photograph of Santa Edith Stein.
Previously, Maus was involved in the Adult Swim series Extreme million dollar gifts: world peace which was canceled in 2016 after a season in which creator Sam Hyde was criticized for using alt-right memes on the show. Your last album, Screen memories, arrived in 2017.
