A 5-year-old girl who suffered a car accident in Missouri involving Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid was left fighting for her life in a hospital bed, the photos show.
The young woman, whose relatives were identified as Ariel, was seen tied to medical tubes and heavily bandaged in images posted on a GoFundMe page after the accident.
“Ariel, who just turned 5, suffered from swelling in the brain and bleeding around the brain, she hasn’t woken up since the accident,” wrote the girl’s aunt, Tiffany Verhulst, on GoFundMe. “She is still in a very critical condition.”
Reid was behind the wheel of a white Dodge Ram near the Chiefs’ training facility at around 9 pm on Thursday when he hit a Chevrolet Traverse that was pulled up beside a highway ramp, officials said.
Reid, who is the son of Chiefs coach Andy Reid, reportedly told police that he had between two or three drinks and had taken the Adderall medication.
Ariel’s mother drove Traverse to ramp I-435 to help a cousin who ran out of gas, according to GoFundMepage.
In addition to Ariel being injured in the accident, a 4-year-old child also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The GoFundMe page has raised more than $ 123,000 since it started on Saturday.
