Are you wondering when it will be your turn to get the COVID vaccine? CA Launches Notification Site in LA, SD Counties

California has launched a new pilot site for residents to find out when it will be their turn to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The website, called My Turn, allows users to schedule vaccination appointments, as well as sign up to be notified by text or email when they become eligible, if they are not already. Currently, the feature is only available to healthcare professionals and people aged 65 and over in Los Angeles and San Diego counties.

Authorities plan to make it available across the state in early February.

During a press conference on Monday afternoon, Governor Gavin Newsom said the tool was more than just a notification system or reservation system with state clinics, as other states did.

“It provides providers with the ability to have all data shared automatically, not just with the state, but ultimately it allows us to quickly share that data with the federal government,” said Newsom.

This will eliminate the unnecessary paperwork and old systems that many clinics and vaccine providers struggle with, he said.

This will also allow them to enter more immediate data on the number of vaccines that have been applied, which he says will “fundamentally resolve” a delay in reporting that may make it appear that fewer vaccines have been administered.

“It’s as good as the clinics and the network of providers are good. It gets more robust as more people go online … As more and more clinics sign up, more and more opportunities arise, more and more capacity is made available , at least on this platform versus other mechanisms and platforms in terms of finding out when it’s your turn, “said the governor.
