Apply for Jefferson County COVID vaccine

Alabama’s most populous county has launched an online registration form for county residents to apply and be notified when they are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine and how to schedule an appointment.

You can sign up here.

The link is posted on the Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency website and asks respondents a number of questions, including their age, whether they have any pre-existing conditions and what category their work falls into.

“After submission, we will review your information and determine which phase of vaccine delivery is most appropriate for your situation,” says the form. “If it is determined that you are in a phase where the vaccine is being delivered, you will be contacted by someone from the Jefferson County Department of Health, who will provide additional information on how to schedule the vaccination appointment.”

The Jefferson County EMA and the Jefferson County Health Department scheduled a press conference for Monday at 3 pm to provide more details about the vaccine launch in Jefferson County.

Jefferson County is home to Birmingham, Alabama’s largest city, and several major medical centers, including the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, St. Vincent’s and Children’s of Alabama.

Jefferson County is currently vaccinating only frontline health workers and a few first responders, but the state will begin offering the COVID vaccine to anyone over 75 and more categories of essential workers on January 18.

Jefferson County EMA and the Department of Health also offer a hotline for vaccine information at 205-858-2221.

Jefferson County residents can send a text message to 888-777 with the INFOJEFFCO message to sign up for COVID-19 vaccine text message updates.

The Alabama Department of Public Health also launched a statewide hotline for vaccine information that, according to ADPH, received more than 1.1 million calls on its first day of operation. This number is 1-855-566-5333.

ADPH asks people not to call local hospitals directly to try to schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine, and says that hospitals across the state are “overwhelmed” with calls from people asking about the vaccine, and this is interrupting others. hospital operations.
