Apple’s next MacBook Air may be even thinner and lighter

Last week, Bloomberg reported that Apple was planning a redesigned MacBook Air. It was a footnote, however, in a larger part that focused on some of the next MacBook Pro laptops. Today, BloombergMark Gurman provided some more details about the upcoming aerial update. It will be thinner and lighter, reports the publication, will have a state-of-the-art M1 processor and will use the same MagSafe charging system for the next MacBook Pro update. The company is also planning a project with smaller screen frames, which would further reduce the already portable format.

The report does not say how much smaller, thinner and lighter the laptop could be. Bloomberg notes, however, that it will be positioned as a premium alternative to the current MacBook Air, which will remain an entry-level offering. Chassis changes would help Apple differentiate the Air and Pro lines. The latest MacBook Air, which boasts the company’s new M1 chip, is visually similar to the MacBook Pro (well, versions that come without the Touch Bar, anyway) ). It is a wonderful machine – my colleague Dana Wollman said “it is worth considering for most people” – but it does not stand out close to the current crop of MacBook Pros.
