Apple suggests an imminent launch of iOS 14.5 and possibly a 5G iPad Pro (2021)

The iOS 14.5 update will be very special for Apple iPhone users. With the launch of the App Tracking Transparency feature, by default, third-party applications will not be allowed to track iPhone users for the purpose of sending them online advertisements. Those who wish to continue receiving these ads can choose to allow these applications to continue to track them. According to ArsTechnica, Apple has rejected new app submissions that call the phone’s fingerprint reader to track the user.

IPhone and iPad users are eagerly waiting for updates for iOS and iPadOS 14.5

This strongly suggests that the release of iOS 14.5 is imminent along with the introduction of some new hardware, including the new iPad Pro series (2021). A copy of the letter sent by Apple to developers whose applications were rejected contains a big clue. Citing guideline 5.1.2 – Legal – Privacy – Data usage and sharing, the Apple letter said: “We found in our review that your application collects user and device information to create a unique identifier for the user’s devices. Applications that identify the user’s device in this way, violate the Apple Developer Program License Agreement and are not appropriate for the App Store. “
In other words, applications are now being rejected for the same reason they will be as soon as the Application Tracking Transparency feature takes effect. Seeing it this way, it really makes sense to believe that iOS 14.5 and some new hardware are just days away from being introduced. Perhaps the most interesting feature of iOS 14.5 is that which allows users to unlock the iPhone, even if a face mask blocks the verification of the user’s identity by the Facial ID.
Since the pandemic started wreaking havoc in the states, Apple asked users to enter their passwords to unlock their iPhones. But this is not always so easy to do at the moment and you end up fumbling and possibly even dropping the device. However, once iOS 14.5 is installed, an iPhone user with an unlocked Apple Watch can use the watch to verify their identity and automatically unlock the phone. This is a shortcut that many iPhone owners are eagerly waiting to see.

The update for iOS 14.5 will include vocal adjustments for Siri, and more than 200 new emojis are coming to the iPhone in this way. In addition, iOS 14.5 adds support for the PlayStation 5 controller and Xbox Series X / S controllers. After iOS 14.5 is installed on the iPhone, it will prompt the user to select a standard voice for Siri. There are four variants of the USA:

Voice 1 – a soft, masculine voice
Voice 2 – an energetic and confident female voice
Voice 3 is similar to Voice 2, but it sounds masculine,
and finally, Voice 4, which sounds like the standard Siri voice you know and love.

Some new hardware is also expected to be released soon. The iPad Pro (2021) should be available with 12.9 and 11 inch screens. We were able to see Apple use mini-LED technology for the screen to help the device deliver sharper images. It is not yet known whether the new slates support 5G connectivity, but it is expected to be equipped with a new 5nm chip, the A14X Bionic, which is as powerful as Apple’s new M1 chip designed for its line of Macs. The M1 has 16 billion transistors, which makes it powerful and energy efficient.

The iOS 14.5 update and the new iPad Pro can arrive anytime from the beginning of next week, so check back with us often. The iPad had a very strong year in 2020 and we could see it continue through 2021 and perhaps extend until 2022. Older iPad models may also receive an update similar to iPadOS 14.5.
