Apple today released a new ad that focuses on the durability of the iPhone 12, specifically highlighting the Ceramic Shield screen, which should be tougher than standard smartphone glass.
In the ad, a woman’s iPhone 12 slips from her hand and she fumbles with it for several seconds before it flies out of her hand and falls to the ground, coming out unscathed.
“IPhone 12 with Ceramic Shield. Tougher than any smartphone’s glass. Relax, it’s the iPhone,” says the video caption.
All PiPhone 12 models have OLED screens with Ceramic Shield, which, according to Apple, offers four times better protection against drops than was available with previous iPhone models.
The Ceramic Shield material, which comes from Corning, is made by infusing nano-ceramic crystals into the glass to improve durability. Although Ceramic Shield appears to be better able to withstand drops than previous tecnologiaiPhone it screen technology, it is still subject to scratches.
