Apple Inc. removed the Wimkin social media platform from its App Store, part of a growing crackdown by technology companies on potentially dangerous content during the presidential transition.

The tech giant suspended Wimkin, a small website that calls itself a free speech paradise, on Tuesday for content that included appeals for a civil war and the arrest of Vice President Mike Pence, according to Wimkin’s founder. , Jason Sheppard, and records of his correspondence with Apple.APPLE IPHONE REQUIRES ‘ROBUST’ BEFORE QUARTERLY GAINS, SAYS THE ANALYST
Sheppard said on Thursday that Wimkin’s small team removed dozens of posts and a group that was trying to organize a “Millions of Militias March” in the hands of President-elect Joe Biden next week.

“As soon as it was reported to us, we took care of it,” said Sheppard.
Sheppard said that removals from the platform, which has 300,000 users and mimics some of Facebook’s functions, are insignificant compared to content removals by much larger competitors.
“I can’t blame them for looking at this,” said Sheppard of Apple. “I just wanted them to give us a chance.”
