Apple’s spring cleaning checklist looks largely dedicated to the iMac this year. After discontinuing the iMac Pro earlier this month, it has now discarded the 512 GB and 1 TB SSD configurations on the 21.5-inch workstation, according to MacRumors. However, you can still purchase 256 GB SSD and 1 TB Fusion drive versions.
Both configurations have not been available for purchase on the Apple website since last month and have now been completely removed. It is not yet clear why Apple decided to stop selling them, but it could be that it is simply losing some stock before the launch of a new line of iMac. Bloomberg previously reported that he is working on two new models that reduce the screen frame of the current iMac, large chin and curved back. The new all-in-one desktops will also include Apple’s internal M1 chips, as part of its continued move away from Intel processors.
At the same time, it may also be that Apple is struggling with the same supply shortages that have disrupted the tech industry in general. Along with the semiconductor pandemic drop, the main SSD supplier, Samsung, was forced to shut down operations at its Texas chip factory due to power outages caused by extreme weather conditions.
