Apple is reportedly considering bringing Touch ID back to iPhones.
The Silicon Valley giant signed the death sentence for the fingerprint sensor in 2017, when it started disabling the home button on its main devices, but is now testing a version of Touch ID that will live under the iPhone screen, reports Bloomberg.
The facial ID was very popular when it was released, but it angered users last year as they were forced to wear masks during the coronavirus pandemic. The company previously updated its software to allow users to enter their passwords more quickly.
However, the next generation of iPhones would not rule out Face ID, giving users the option of how they would like to unlock their phones. Apple recently incorporated Touch ID into the iPad Air activation button.
Apple is also considering completely eliminating the charging port on the next iPhones, which would allow devices to recharge their batteries only through wireless charging.
