Apple Maps can now help you find COVID-19 vaccination locations

As of today, people in the U.S. can use Apple Maps to locate nearby COVID-19 vaccination locations. You can find the locations by tapping the search bar and then the COVID-19 Vaccines icon in the “Find nearby” menu. If it helps, it’s the same part of the interface where you can find restaurants and gas stations nearby. Another option is to ask Siri something like, “Where can I get the COVID vaccination?”

As with Facebook’s vaccine search engine, Apple is retrieving listings from the Boston Children’s Hospital VaccineFinder database. Each will have an address, telephone number and opening hours, as well as a link to the website. According to Apple, there are 20,000 ads to be released, with more to come in the coming weeks. The company will also allow healthcare professionals, laboratories and companies to send information about COVID-19 testing and vaccination sites to the Apple Business Register. Once approved, the company says it can display some of this information to Maps users as well.

If you live in the United States, you can now use Google and Facebook to find similar information, but as is often the case with these things, it never hurts to have more options.
