Apple Leak unveils new iPhone 13 design

Apple’s iPhone 12 line looks set to break sales records, despite a long list of launch problems. But now a new iPhone exclusive leak reveals that the design change that everyone wants will occur next year.

Turning its head is DigiTimes, which reports that Apple will finally be able to shrink the notch size on the iPhone 13, while simultaneously updating the front and rear cameras with Pro-level improvements across the range.

According to the report, two advances are the key to the smallest notch. The first is that Apple has managed to significantly reduce the sensors that make up Face ID. The second is a simplified VCSEL chip in the front camera, which reduces the volume and adds enhanced depth detection capabilities – a benefit for portrait mode selfies.

Moving on to the back of the iPhone 13, DigiTimes also claims that Apple is working with the U.S. II-VI to manufacture VCSEL chips for LiDAR time-of-flight (ToF) scanners with all four iPhone 13 models receiving this Pro-only we will present next year. Presumably, the space that Apple has saved internally on its front camera and Face ID changes is what allows the iPhone 13 Mini to take that step and take the iPhone 13 (which corresponds to its functionality) with it.

It is important to note that Digitimes has a mixed history, but it has also broken some important exclusives in recent months.

In addition, if Digitimes is making money from its latest report, the iPhone 13 case is already attractive. Industry leaks revealed the next generation of 5G efficiency (which should have a big effect on battery life), folded storage, LPTO panels (enabling 120 Hz ProMotion screens), the return of Touch ID next to Face ID (for a was in a mask) and what has happened labeled the biggest WiFi update in 20 years.

But for many, it is the smallest notch that may just be the icing on the cake.
