Apple hopes to abandon Touch Bar on 2021 MacBook Pro models

Apple will abandon the “Touch Bar” in its next batch of MacBook Pro computers in favor of returning to physical keys, according to a renowned analyst.

TFI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo wrote this week that the iPhone maker is ending the widely rejected feature after five years, as the long, thin, interactive video tape on MacBook Pro keyboards has never become the revolutionary tool that Apple first launched 2016

But control keys are not the only major change Apple is making to its 2021 MacBook Pro line, according to a report by MacRumors.

The next 14 and 16-inch laptops will have a design change that will eliminate the curved edges that computers have exhibited in the past 5 years in favor of a flatter design, like the new iPhone 12 family.

They will also add more types of ports instead of the USB-C to which they have been limited in recent years, meaning that consumers will not have to buy expensive dongles to connect different wires and devices to their MacBook.

Apple is also bringing back its MagSafe charging connector after discarding it when it introduced USB-C to the MacBook. On older MacBook models, MagSafe allowed chargers to snap in and out quickly using magnets.

Apple’s shares rose slightly on Friday morning, trading at $ 129.39.
