Apple Car Concept: CarPlay meets Tesla’s central screen

Although it seems that we are still more than several years before the Apple Car can reach the world, the enthusiasm is growing as we learn more details. Now, a graphic designer has created a sharp Apple Car concept that imagines what a large 15-inch center console screen would look like the one Tesla uses with its Model 3 and Model Y.

Graphic designer John Calkins shared the Apple Car “ Autos” concept at Behance yesterday. Is it based on the idea that “if Apple made Model 3”? Although Apple has already confirmed that it is in talks with automakers like Hyundai and Elon Musk, Tim Cook himself declined a meeting about buying Tesla years ago, this is still a fun experience in imagining what a car interior would look like from Apple. After all, Tesla is arguably the most attractive central console / media experience in the automotive industry.

Apple car concept: what if Apple made the Tesla Model 3?

John’s concept is like imagining CarPlay on steroids – in a really great way. The Model 3 uses a 15-inch touchscreen mounted in the center, so it’s like taking a MacBook Pro to a car and combining the rest of the necessary automatic interfaces with what we now have with CarPlay.

This Apple Car concept uses a dock on the left as the features of CarPlay now, but with this screen size, it looks more like macOS Big Sur mixed with a larger iPad Pro.

The views and overall layout of the car and steering are inspired by Tesla’s existing experience here, but with Apple’s refinement and attention to detail.
