Apple and Hyundai will reach a partnership agreement for the next Apple Car by March, according to a new report released by Reutersciting Korea IT News.
Before being reviewed, the Korea IT News The report said companies could manufacture electric vehicles at a Georgia plant owned by Kia Motors, an affiliate of the Hyundai Motor Group, or invest in a new facility in the United States that could produce up to 400,000 vehicles a year. The report also mentioned that a “beta version” of the “Apple Car” could be launched in 2022.
Reuters Last month, it reported that “Apple Car” production could begin around 2024, and that period was reflected again in today’s report. A start of production in 2024 may be a little ambitious, as a report from the Bloomberg last week he said the “Apple Car” is “far from production” and could be ready in about five to seven years.
Rumors that Apple is in talks with Hyundai first surfaced last week, suggesting that Apple plans to work with the automaker to produce electric vehicles and develop batteries due to the high costs of technology and necessary production facilities.
Hyundai initially confirmed their electric vehicle discussions with Apple in a statement to CNBC, but the statement was revised hours later, with no mention of Apple.
