Apex Legends season 8 patch notes: Fuse, Repeater, Kings Canyon update

Apex Legends‘the latest season is here and it could be one of the biggest season changes the game has ever had. The Season 8 update includes Fuse, the game’s newest Legend, the new 30-30 Repeater rifle and a newly destroyed version of Kings Canyon, which is expected to offer many new areas to explore.

The biggest news this season is Fuse, a legend that is dedicated entirely to explosives. His passive ability allows him to hold more grenades than other Legends and shoot them more accurately. His tactical skill is a cluster bomb that fires small explosions that can stun enemy players, and his Ultimate skill knocks down a missile barrage that creates a wall of flame around a small area.

This season also brought some major changes to Kings Canyon, after a ship collided with the map and destroyed several of its cities. Players can now explore new areas of the map, including Spotted Lakes, which has a sniper nest. As for weapons, season 8 adds the 30-30 Repeater, a heavy, slow-fire rifle that needs to create new ammunition between each powerful shot.

To take a look at all the changes that Respawn Entertainment has brought to Apex Legends season 8 you can check the full patch notes. The Apex Legends Season 8’s patch drops when the season starts February 2 at 1:00 pm ET.

Apex Legends season 8 patch notes

Quality of life updates

Damage counter

  • We now add a damage counter to the HUD. This was a highly requested feature, so we’re excited to allow people to track more easily to pursue these badges and challenges!

Dripping ammunition

  • Dripping weapons or ammunition into your inventory displays your current ammunition count along with “player wants ammo” in the quick chat.

Colorblind update

  • Healing and revival will now follow color blind rules when color blind settings are enabled

Lore Blurbs on Canon Skins

  • Some of our skins are canonical and others are just for fun. For skins that represent an important part of the character’s background story, we have added a short synopsis to describe the meaning of this skin in the life of the Legend.

Legend Meta

Wraith:

Developer note:

We know that Wraith will always be a popular choice, considering the amount of combat usefulness in his kit. After many adjustments to his skills and animations, the fact remains that his winning rate remains at the top, as it has been since day one. With the season 7 hitbox settings on Pathfinder, we were able to control its power without nerfying its kit. We hope to do the same with Wraith.

Wraith now has a slightly larger hitbox than his other little legends, but the changes remain true to his model. Even with these changes, Wraith remains small and difficult to achieve. It will keep the Profile Low as we monitor its usage and gain rates to see if the energy can be returned in other ways in the future.

Rampart:

  • Increasing the angle of Sheila from 120 ° to 180 °
  • The health of the wall in the construction phase increased from 1 HP to 45 HP (sniper shots still pierce)

Developer note:

Rampart has remained at the bottom of our performance metrics since its launch. Her kit is very developed around the proactive configuration of a powerful position, but in a game as fast as the Apex, we determined that your walls should have some reactive power as well. We are keeping a close eye on this one.

Horizon:

  • Gravity Lift’s effective cooldown increased from 21s to 25s. The 15s cooling timer will now start when the Gravity Lift disappears.

Developer note:

Horizon launched strong, to the point of rivaling Wraith in victory rate and choice rate. For now, we are monitoring its use and checking whether the cooling changes have a significant effect or not.

Octane:

Launch Pad Remastered: Many players should know about Octane’s “super jump” that was possible with a well synchronized jump while hitting the pad. After the double jump option was introduced, there was an entry conflict that led to unreliable use. We decided to add some launch options that are better defined than the old super jump.

  • Hitting the jump block from a standing position will launch players along a high arc (the speed and trajectory of the old super jump).
  • From a crouched position, players will launch over a low arc, meaning that they will fly lower, but farther in the horizontal direction.

Cryptography:

  • Remove the ability to glue bow stars to friendly drones

Wolf:

  • Loot within closed maintenance packages is now visible with Eye for Quality and accessible through the Black Market Boutique.

Caustic:

  • All gas will now dissipate as soon as the Caustics team is eliminated.

Mirage:

  • Mirage baits create step sounds.

Developer note:

This change was wrongly mentioned in the notes for the Fight Night patch when it was actually coming with this patch. Mirage baits will now have step audio in a limited capacity. There won’t be a tornado of steps if an enemy Mirage comes around, but it must be a little more difficult to identify the real Mirage with just the audio tracks.
