Apex Legends reveals the decimated Kings Canyon in the new gameplay trailer for Season 8 • Eurogamer.net

With only a week to go.

The eighth season of Apex Legends content – also known as Mayhem – is almost here, and developer Respawn is preparing for its February 2 release with a brand new gameplay trailer showing, among other things, the Kings map Canyon recently destroyed.

The big addition of season 8, of course, is the new hero Fuse – an Australian demolition expert and Bonecage Champion on the planet Salvo who, as you can imagine, gets a substantial display in the last trailer unexpectedly in the 80s style.

There’s a peek at the new lever action rifle The 30-30 Repeater, and it also appears to confirm previous leaks from data miners that Fuse’s special abilities will include using his mechanical arm to launch shock grenades, as well as an ultimate devastating (supposedly called the Motherlode) that sees the huge cannon on its back go into action.

Perhaps the biggest reveal of the trailer, however, is the first proper look at the decimated Kings Canyon map for season 8, ruined after the explosive events of a recent movie trailer.

The resulting ship crash opened the map to the north, introducing new areas, game opportunities and knowledge that Respawn detailed in more detail in a related blog post. The main new points of interest, however, are the immense crash site, a flooded version of Slum Lakes known as Spotted Lakes, a scenic path filled with imposing Leviathan bones – all complemented by a series of additional adjustments and additions.

Players will be able to explore the revised map – along with a new Battle Pass and a new Ranked Season – when Apex Legends Season 8 arrives on PS4, Xbox One and PC (and possibly Switch?) Next Tuesday, 2 February.
