After months of teasing, Respawn Entertainment finally revealed last week that Apex Legends will come to Nintendo Switch in early March. The announcement finally brought relief to many who were waiting for a specific release date, but as we approach that date, others began to wonder how much space they will need to make on their switch to install it. Well, luckily, it looks like we now have our answer.
The official game page for Apex Legends Nintendo’s website was recently updated to reveal that the Battle Royale shooter will require 30 GB of space on the console. While it is not usually a very large amount on other consoles like the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, it takes up almost all of the Switch’s internal memory. Although the file size appears to be quite concrete, there may also be an error with it.
On the UK Nintendo Switch website, it was noted at one point in the past few days that Apex Legends it only had a file size of about 15 GB. This is obviously much better compared to what the US site currently shows, but it looks like the 15 GB size may be incorrect. The page was later removed and the file size with it disappeared. As such, it looks like 30 GB may be the actual download size, after all.
All of this simply means that if you haven’t made room on your Nintendo Switch in a while, well, now might be a good time to do it if you’re looking Apex Legends next month. On the other hand, if you also haven’t updated your switch with an external memory card, you can always buy one of these. Micro SD cards are usually not very expensive and allow you to double the size of your Switch’s storage without having to break the bank.
For when Apex Legends is actually releasing on Switch, the game will finally arrive next month, on March 9th. With the date getting closer, we will be sure to keep you updated about the game’s release on the Switch if there are new developments.
So, how do you feel about that file size? You will be frustrated if Apex Legends ends up taking up so much space? Let me know your opinion, below in the comments or on Twitter at @ MooreMan12.
