The 8th season of Apex Legends begins on February 2 and will feature the 16th Legend: Fuse from Battle Royale, developer Respawn Entertainment announced on Monday.
With the theme “Mayhem”, it seems that Respawn hopes to increase the action of Apex. On the official Apex Legends website, Respawn is proving that Fuse’s arrival at the tournament has dramatically reshaped Kings Canyon. There are no new screenshots to see, however, but Respawn says it will show more soon.
New Legend Fuse is a passionate demolition enthusiast and thief. You can watch his origin story trailer below. When Fuse and his friend discover a gold grenade in the hands of a dead soldier on his home planet, Salvo, it ignites a rivalry between the two that lasts over the years. With each friend continually stealing the other’s gold grenade, while Fuse builds a career as a ring fighter, tensions eventually escalate when Salvo joins the Syndicate planets.
Fuse ends up telling his friend that he’s leaving Salvo to join the Apex Games, and offers her a truce, giving him the grenade. Obviously, he is not a fan of kind gestures, it takes him to the bottom of the well. She grabs the grenade, pulls the pin and surprises Fuse by throwing it at him, popping his entire arm. The fuse can be seen in a photo on the Apex Legends website showing a metal arm that must be filled with weapons.
Data miners have already discovered some details about Fuse’s skills. “Airburst Grenade” allows him to throw, what else, a grenade from his arm. His final skill is believed to be “The Motherlode”, which allows him to launch a missile from his back and burn anything in his path.
Apex players who still prefer other legends will not be left in the cold. A new weapon called the 30-30 Repeater, a futuristic lever-action rifle, will be available at the start of season 8.
Season 8 of Apex Legends will include all the other usual things you would expect: a 100-level battle pass offering skins and other cosmetics, a ranked competitive mode and more.
Apex Legends will also arrive on the Nintedo Switch in 2021, after a previous delay.
