Apartments in San Antonio catch fire due to suspected water tank explosion amid a deadly winter storm

An apartment complex in San Antonio caught fire on Thursday with the suspicion of a water tank explosion, leading to an evacuation of residents already harassed by deadly winter storms that hit Texas and neighboring states this week.

The fire started on the second floor of the apartment complex on block 4000 of the TPC Parkway on the north side of the city, KSAT reported.

The video shared by a Twitter user shows the flames spreading to other buildings.

Firefighters had to bring water to the site to extinguish the flames because the fire hydrants in the complex were not distributing water.

The Bexar-Bulverde Volunteer Fire Department was reportedly helping out. No further information on possible injuries has been released.

The historic winter storm left Texas reeling. The demand for electricity to heat homes not used to such extreme levels has overwhelmed the state’s electricity grid, leaving millions unheated for several days.
