CYBER ATTACK IN CHINA – A cyber attack previously unreported on the website of the Inter-American Development Bank is drawing attention to the role that China plays in the multilateral creditor. An internal IDB document reviewed by the AP says the September 2019 attack coincided with the bank’s 60th anniversary celebration and originated from more than 15,000 Internet addresses across China. IDB President Mauricio Claver-Carone was a fervent critic of China when he served as the Trump administration’s top national security officer for Latin America. News of the attack is surfacing as Claver-Carone tries to outdo critics in Washington and beyond, still furious at his politically charged election last year, which broke the tradition of a Latin American being in charge of the bank.
