Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized Republican leaders on Saturday, saying the lack of accountability for Capitol riots on January 6 would prevent any “cure” of the violent episode in which five people died, including a Capitol police officer.
Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to criticize Republicans, many of whom chose to entertain the unmasked electoral challenges of President Donald Trump, which the hooligans used as a justification to try to prevent the victory of President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College from being certified.

The second-term New York Democrat, who asked his Republican colleagues to join the pressure to remove Trump from office, emphasized that the deadly disturbances will have major repercussions for the country.

“Since it seems that GOP leaders need a reminder: there is no ‘cure’ for this without responsibility,” Ocasio-Cortez added in another tweet. “And there is no” unity “with white supremacists. You know that the president’s state has evolved dangerously. If you are too weak to do anything about it, you are too weak to serve.”

On Friday, Ocasio-Cortez wrote that Trump was putting the lives of all members at risk, not just Democrats.
“To my colleagues in the Republican Party: know that this president has incited an insurrection against and incited his mob to find, harm and possibly kill not only Democrats, but you as well. He will * allow * opportunities for physical harm against you if you don’t loyal enough to him. Remove him, ” she tweeted.
Last week, Ocasio-Cortez attacked Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri, the first Senate Republican to declare that he would object to the Jan. 6 certification, after a publisher canceled his next book amid the riots.
“You bombed and baseless insurgents attacked our elections”, she tweeted. “Your actions fueled a riot and you raised funds in chaos. Five people died. Even your Republican colleagues distanced themselves from your actions.”
Trump, who faces a possible impeachment vote by House Democrats next week, saw a wave of employee layoffs in recent days, in reaction to the way he handled the situation, including Transport Secretary Elaine Chao and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.
