During the state’s COVID-19 briefing on Tuesday, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen noted that almost a third (31.7%) of adults received at least one dose vaccination and 18.8% are fully vaccinated.

“I ask everyone to do it,” said John Rivera, who was recently vaccinated. “I am not surprised that, in this great country, it is possible to launch a vaccine to combat a pandemic like this, so quickly.”

“Our vaccine equality efforts remain a priority, along with speed,” Governor Roy Cooper said in a tweet. “We continue to vaccinate people quickly and fairly.”

The number of new cases of COVID-19 in the state has stagnated, as opposed to the decrease as it had in recent weeks. Cohen said the state “was in a positive position”.

“Every shot in the arm brings us closer to turning the corner in this pandemic,” said Cooper.

The state says any adult in North Carolina who wants a coronavirus vaccine will be able to get it by May 1. Last week, the CFVH exceeded the 100,000 dose mark.
