Although the Los Angeles Lakers have the best NBA record, one of their best players is unhappy with their recent performance.

Anthony Davis offered a frank self-assessment when speaking to reporters after Thursday’s 113-106 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

“Now, to be tough on myself, man, I think I suck now,” he said. “I’m not shooting. I’m not making free throws. But I think that my aggressiveness tonight, just being a [post-up threat] and getting to painting, allowed the guys to open up. “

Davis has had less than 20 points in each of the last five gamesits longest streak since the 2018-19 season. The seven-time All-Star is shooting 38.0 percent and making 63.6 percent of his free throws in the last three games.

Despite these harsh shooting statistics, Davis is contributing in other ways. He has an average of 9.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists during that five-game period.

It is proof of the squad that the Lakers built that they are 4-1 in those games. The current NBA champions are 12-4 overall and lead the league with an average winning margin of 9.9 points.
