Another death of COVID-19, the total occupancy of the Brazos County ICU remains high

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Brazos County Sanitary District reported 90 additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Brazos County. Currently, there are 1,474 active cases.

A new death has been reported in the past 24 hours, a man hospitalized in his 70s. There were 181 deaths in the municipality of Brazos related to COVID-19.

14,316 patients are classified as recovered, which means that they have had no fever for 72 hours, no medication to lower their fever, and 10 days have passed since the onset of symptoms.

42 percent of new confirmed cases are in the 18 to 24 age group.

There have been 3,305 probable cases in Brazos County since June 18, 2020. A probable case of COVID-19 is determined by a positive antigen test. Confirmed COVID-19 cases are determined by a positive PCR test. The health district conducts case investigations in all confirmed and probable cases.

There are currently 431 probable cases active and 2,874 probable cases recovered.

The total number of confirmed positive cases in the county since testing began is 15,971. 165,493 tests were carried out.

The total occupancy of hospital beds in Brazos County is 88%, and the total occupancy of beds in the ICU is 129%.

There are currently 51 residents in the municipality of Brazos hospitalized for COVID-19.

State Trauma Service Area N

Most of the Brazos Valley falls under the state N trauma service area (Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson and Washington counties). The Trauma Service Area N currently reports 636 hospital beds with 88 available beds. According to the most recent data from the state, the region has 3 ICU beds available and 59 fans available. The latest state update listed 90 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients currently in the hospital.

Texas A&M University

The Texas A&M COVID-19 Dashboard reported 30 new cases and 480 active cases on February 1.

Currently, the university reported 4,890 positive cases, 7.2 percent of the tests were positive.

The last update of the panel was provided on February 4, 2021.

Across the state, Texas has an estimated 362,103 active cases and 2,015,866 recoveries. There were 2,433,110 cases reported in total and 20,497,505 tests in total (viral and antibody).

To date, 37,288 Texans have died from COVID-19.

Currently, 2,041,378 Texans have been vaccinated with at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 561,411 Texans have been fully vaccinated. Across Texas, 4,468,600 doses were shipped.

254 out of 254 counties in the state of Texas are currently reporting cases. Harris County leads the state in total cases, with 320,744 cases reported.
