Emerging actor, writer and ceramic artist Seth Rogen is publishing his first book, which the Random House Crown label insists is “more perceptive than anything with this amount of talk about drugs and swearing it has a right to be”. Entitled Directory, The American pickles the star’s collection of essays will include anecdotes from Rogen’s early years in comedy, his family and his Hollywood experiences. In the real character of Rogen, the Directory the press release contains a statement not by the author himself, but by his mother, Sandy Rogen. It seems exactly what anyone’s Jewish mother would write for the book’s release, that is, it’s hilarious:

“At first I was worried that Seth was writing a book, because I was like, ‘Oh no! What will he say ?! ‘In fact, I was scared to even read. But I am very happy to have done this. It’s not really a memoir, as I thought it could be. I think it’s more of a lot of funny stories? That makes sense? He talks about doing stand-up as a kid (I took him to every show!), His grandparents, high school, moving to LA, meeting famous people, things like that. To be honest, I really wish there wasn’t so much talk about drugs. Why does he need all this? It’s like ‘We understand!’ And some of the stories? I mean, they are fun, but I was shocked by what happened and he never told me! Overall, I think it’s sweeter and funnier than anything, so I like it and I’m glad he wrote it, but I would be even happier if he called me more.

Rogen also showed the book’s hardcover art on Twitter, which definitely fits with the Directory theme, with illustrations of real characters (Michael Lynton, head of Sony) and fictional characters (Xenu, for some reason). Rogen replied: The guy Ted Cruz didn’t make the cut.

This news was extremely timely to coincide with Freaks and Geeksreturn to streaming, and the theme will be played. Directoryand the audiobook narrated by Rogen, will be released on May 11, 2021. Heh-heh-heh.
