Animal Crossing’s Isabelle is sad to see the end of 2020

During Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘New Year’s Eve event, Nintendo Switch fans were treated to an amazing dialogue early in the game. It seems that everyone’s favorite villager, Isabelle, is a little disappointed to see 2020 come to an end. Although most people around the world are more than happy to see 2020 thrown in the trash, Isabelle sheds a few tears, noting how much the year has meant to her. In any other year, this exchange would probably not raise any eyebrows, but 2020 is a year unlike any other, and most are more than happy to see it end!

An image of Isabelle’s tearful farewell until 2020 can be found below.

Of course, Isabelle can hardly be blamed for enjoying 2020! The character received a comfortable job for Nook, Inc., where she spends every day talking to residents about her television viewing habits, the day’s events and more. New Year’s Eve is a particularly notable day for the character, as it gives her a rare day’s work to spend outside the Residents’ Services building; she didn’t even win it on her birthday this year!

Players can see Isabelle next to Tom Nook outside the building during the game’s New Year’s Eve event. During the holiday festivities, players will also have the opportunity to pick up some free items in the form of a Light Stick and Party Popper. Tom Nook never misses the opportunity to make some bells and therefore will also have party hats for sale. Regardless of how much players spend, they can count down to the end of the year, thanks to a giant clock in front of Resident Services. After the midnight chime, the fireworks will be held and will last until 2 am

For those who won’t have the opportunity to attend a face-to-face party this year, tonight’s event should be a fun way to celebrate the end of 2020 (even though Isabelle is sad to see it go)!
