Animal Crossing Sanrio cards on target: when and how to buy them, price

Cross between animals: New HorizonsSanrio’s amiibo crossover cards – sold exclusively at Target – will launch on Friday, March 26, and Target is telling customers that they can start buying them at 9:00 AM EDT that day. One package sells for $ 5.99.

You have to go to a target to pick up the Sanrio Animal Crossing Collection, but it doesn’t look like you can just pull a package off the shelf. They are only available as order pickup or drive-up purchase, with no online sales. Oh, and a limit of 2 per customer.

There are six amiibo cards in the package, which will give players a variety of clothing, decor and residents based on Sanrio’s most twee hitmakers like Hello Kitty, Keroppi and My Melody. Last month’s announcement shows examples of each.

Animal Crossing and Sanrio have met before, with a collaboration in 2012 Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the 3DS, but it was nothing like the merchandise that is at stake on Friday. Your best bet to get your hands on it will be to reserve a copy on Target.com at 9am. Limited quantities mean that whatever gets to the gray market is likely to cost a lot.
