Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 1.9.0 introduces new currency called Nook Points

Animal Crossing New Horizons turned 1 on Sunday. To celebrate the anniversary, the developers sent a special birthday cake to all players, which they can collect in their mailbox. The anniversary also kicked off the event schedule for the 1.9.0 update, with Bunny Day scheduled to arrive in a week. Later on, events such as April Fool’s Day, Earth Day and many others will also arrive.

The update also introduced new exclusive Nook Link items and also a new currency that could be used to purchase them.

Animal Crossing New Horizons Nook Points

Players can now win a new type of currency that allows them to buy very exclusive items in New Horizons. With the Nook Link app available on the Nintendo Switch app for all smartphones, players can use this new currency. This coin is called Nook Point, which will be launched in late March with the update of Nook Link.

To earn Nook points, players must visit the Link app every day. By using this app, players can accumulate points for free. They can also do activities within the app that allow them to earn more. The system works similarly to Nook Miles, which players can earn using the Nook Stop Terminal.

This is not the first time that an Animal Crossing game has multiple currencies. At Pocket Camp, players can win Bells and Leaf Tickets. At New Leaf, players have bells, MEOW coupons and game coins.

Exclusive items with Nook Points

Players can purchase exclusive items in the Nook link app and transfer them to the game. The developers revealed some pre-release screenshots that showed the new items. Some of these items include the Nook Inc. poster and door plaque, photos of Isabella, Tom Nook, Timmy and Tommy and an Aloha carrying case. The developers have not yet revealed the prices of these items.

The new Link app will also bring Katrina, the psychic, back to the Animal Crossing franchise. The character will give players a daily card with words of wisdom after collecting their points in the Nook Link app. It remains to be seen whether the character will have a greater role and will also enter the game.

Fans are excited about the renewal of the Link app. The new Nook Points currency also gives players an additional reason to check the app regularly.
