Hitman 3 falls to 11th position
Animal Crossing: New Horizons returns to the top of the UK charts after temporarily losing its place to Hitman 3 last week.
IO Interactive’s stealth game drops to 11th position, which may seem like a sharp drop, but sales are down 68% week by week and this is a relatively normal drop for a basic game in its second week of sales.
Animal Crossing is in first place, despite sales dropping 12% in the week, while Mario Kart 8: Deluxe rises to second place, having also dropped 12% in the previous week.
Not all falls were, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War rises two positions to No.3 after a 2% increase in sales, while Grand Theft Auto 5 is up to No.4 after a 7% increase in sales.
Other than that, it’s a pretty quiet week for game retailing. There are two new entries on the chart, PGA Tour 2K21 at No.31 (sales up to 52%) and Fortnite: The Last Laugh bundle, which returns to No.36 after a 50% increase in sales.
Next week also looks pretty quiet, while the following week marks the release of the first significant game of the year: Bowser’s Super Mario 3D World + Fury on the Nintendo Switch.
Here’s the week’s GfK Top Ten that ends on January 30:
