Nintendo and Build-a-Bear have teamed up on a line of Animal Crossing: New Horizons characters. For now the ad is beautiful bear bones, but the company promises that more details are on the way. It remains to be seen whether you will be able to apply for a zero interest loan to take your favorite character home.
The ad gives no indication of which animals will be represented, it simply promises that it is “Coming Soon” and directs interested customers to a Build-a-Bear page where you can sign up for email alerts. Given that there are almost 400 villagers in Novos Horizontes, it is a pretty safe bet that the collection will focus on particularly popular or important characters like Tom Nook or Isabelle.
Build-a-Bear stores allow you to add stuffing to a stuffed animal and complement it with optional clothing items. The online store version allows you to replicate the online process and have the material delivered by mail. The company has recently partnered with pop culture brands, such as when it announced a Baby Yoda doll inspired by the Mandalorian. Orders for this doll opened a few months after the January 2020 announcement, but were quick.
Meanwhile, Animal Crossing is teaming up with another iconic and cute brand, as its Sanrio update is coming this month. And recently came across another Nintendo franchise with Mario items, just in time to celebrate Mario Day with a makeover on the island. Animal Crossing will also receive some more seasonal items with the celebration of Shamrock Day.
