Angel di Maria forced to flee the PSG game with the family of the victims of ‘extremely violent assault’

Angel di Maria was sent off while Paris Saint-Germain was in the middle of a game with his family, victims of an extremely violent assault.

Mauricio Pochettino followed him while PSG director Leonardo seemed disturbed on the phone.

After the match, it was discovered that his home had been stolen with his family still inside.

Furthermore, RMC Sport report that the incident became “extremely violent”, while the winger was not the only target player.

Di Maria’s teammate, Marquinhos, was also the target of a robbery at his parents’ house.

Pochettino returned to the bench shortly after, when PSG suffered a surprising 2-1 defeat against Nantes.

The Argentine’s entire family is believed to have been in the house at the time, including his two young daughters.

His wife, Jorgelina, was also at his home in Paris at the time of the theft.

This is not the first time that Di Maria has had experiences with thieves.

While playing for Manchester United, his home in Cheshire in Prestbury was the scene of an attempted theft on January 31, 2015.

The incident influenced his decision to leave the Red Devils after just a year.

Di Maria had just signed a new contract with PSG earlier this week, extending his stay at the Parc des Princes for another year.

Le Parisien reported that the contents of an upstairs safe were hacked into his home while a burglary unit was dispatched in Neuilly-sur-Seine.

This is not the first time that PSG players have been targeted.

In the past 18 months, Sergio Rico, Thiago Silva, Eric Maxim Choupo Moting and others have been the victims of serious thefts.

At his post-match press conference, Pochettino did not confirm the incident, but referred to matters outside of football.

He said: “There are situations outside of football that also explain the second half.

“It is not an excuse, but it caused a reduction in energy. Full time, we talked about other things besides football.”
