Android 10 adapted for the Nintendo switch

Nintendo’s switch is perhaps the most famous for blurring the boundaries between handheld consoles and those you connect to a TV. However, the tablet-like device can also run Android if you want, and has recently been updated to version 10.

It is an update that brings many new features to the table, many of which you may consider indispensable for regular use. The latest port features support for USB Power Delivery, as well as deep hibernation modes that allow the unit’s battery to last for several weeks. Over-the-air updates are also supported which should facilitate ongoing maintenance and improvements to Bluetooth and touchscreen compatibility as well.

Like most console hacks to run custom code, you need to have the right hardware version with the right firmware, as Nintendo has been doing regular iterations to try to block hacks whenever possible. The installation has some obstacles to overcome, but nothing too strenuous that would scare off the average Hackaday reader. Just make sure you don’t try to do this on a beloved console, as there is always a chance that it will all end in tears. If you can, you can turn your Nintendo Switch into a network switch. Net… having… change? Make a better pun in the comments.
