Andrew Wiggins surprised Warriors coach Mike Brown in two areas

After two difficult first appearances against the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks, Andrew Wiggins has been fantastic in the last eight games.

The overall No. 1 choice in the 2014 NBA Draft averages 18.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.8 blocks over that period, while shooting 47.4 percent overall and 42 , 9 percent beyond the arc.

After the Warriors’ victory over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night, he told the media that it was the happiest moment he had ever been in the NBA. He also wants to send a message to the basketball world.

Is Warriors associate coach Mike Brown surprised by anything he has seen from Wiggins so far?

“There are a few things. First is his passing ability. I knew he was a decent passer, but I think Andrew is a top passer – especially when he goes downhill,” said Brown on Monday morning at 95.7 Show Morning Roast “.” He meets guys on the perimeter that I sometimes don’t think he should be able to find.

“This is a skill set in itself.”

“And another offensive thing is his ability to play on the open court,” said Brown. “In the transition, snaking through traffic and getting to the edge, or getting a drag and making a move has been a lot of fun to watch.”

Across the room, Wiggins is undoubtedly making the best defense of his career. He’s making things difficult for some of the main wings of the game and has brought a level of physicality that has surprised many.

“I’ve been telling him lately, I’m like, ‘Dude, you’re that skinny guy, but you’re kind of strong,'” said Brown in 95.7 in a funny tone.
