At least 85 New York lawmakers have spoken out against Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is at the center of two serious scandals, according to data compiled by Fox News.
Cuomo is facing preliminary investigations by the United States attorney in Brooklyn and the FBI on how his government has dealt with asylum-related coronavirus deaths. He also faces charges of sexual harassment by several women.
Cuomo denied the allegations of harassment and his top aides insisted that they followed federal guidelines when it came to nursing homes. His office has denied claims that the death count has been changed.
To dismiss the acting governor, the Assembly needs a majority vote of 150 members, and the state Senate – where there would be a conviction – would need a two-thirds majority of the court members, which would consist of senators and court judges. of appeals from the state.
Of the 85 lawmakers who asked Cuomo to resign or be impeached, 44 specifically asked for impeachment. There are probably more Republicans who want him to step down, but have not commented publicly on the matter.

The most recent allegation against the governor comes from an aide who says he sexually palpated her aggressively after she was summoned to the governor’s mansion last year, said a person familiar with the woman’s allegations.
Details of the woman’s indictment were reported by the Albany Times-Union. The newspaper wrote an initial report with less details on Tuesday. His identity was not released.
In response to the Times-Union report, Cuomo said in a statement: “As I said yesterday, I never did anything like that. The details of this report are distressing. I will not talk about the details of this or any other allegation given the ongoing review, but I am confident in the outcome of the attorney general’s report. “
