When Ana de Armas signed on to play Marilyn Monroe in an upcoming film, she didn’t expect to have so much trouble perfecting her voice.
The 32-year-old “Knives Out” star revealed that it took nine months as a technique to hear Monroe’s whispering voice.
De Armas told the British publication The Sunday Times: “It took me only nine months of training and dialect practice and a few ADR sessions.”
She added: “It was a great torture, so exhausting. My brain was fried.”

The 2021 biopic is titled “Blonde” and by IMDB it will be “a fictional chronicle of Marilyn Monroe’s inner life.”
It also stars Bobby Cannavale and Adrien Brody and was directed by Andrew Dominik.

“I had a lot of thoughts as a woman in the industry, and even in general, about how things from the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s are so relatable today,” de Armas said. “And how, if you don’t have a strong base, with your family and so on, it’s very difficult to survive – very difficult.”
2021 looks like a busy year for De Armas, as she is also starring as a Bond girl in “No Time to Die”, which is due to hit theaters on October 8, 2021, after several delays due to the pandemic.

The Cuban-born actress recently split from actor / writer / director Ben Affleck. They first met in March 2020, after meeting on the set of their movie “Deep Water”.

People magazine reported that the breakup happened because the stars were at “different points in their lives”.
“There is deep love and respect there,” said a source to the channel. “Ben continues to want to work alone. He has three definite jobs and is a solid father at home. Both are happy with where they are in their lives.”

Another source close to the ex-couple added that “she broke it”.
“Their relationship was complicated,” added the source. “Ana doesn’t want to live in Los Angeles and Ben obviously does, since her children live in Los Angeles.”
